Labour Organizations
A number of organizations
represent the various people working on the film set and regulate employment
within the industry. Each of these unions and guilds represents a range
of skilled workers.
Education and experience
requirements for entry into the different departments are determined according
to current industry situations. Special certified skills may be required
and may change from time to time.
Apprenticeship programs
are offered in some job categories and are designed to provide advanced
skills and training for higher-level positions in departments. These programs
provide a combination of classroom teaching and on-the-job training over
a period of one or more years. Final qualification may require an examination.
The number of applicants accepted is limited each year and the requirements
for entry may change.
Upgrading and special
skills for crafts are provided through unions and guilds. Members should
contact them directly for information.
