Reality Check

Next session:
October 18, 2003
location TBA

There is more to the film business than meets the eye - and more to working in the business than just the high-profile jobs of producer, director and star.

What is a grip? How do you become a set dresser? What is it really like to work on a set? Who is actually hiring people for all the films shot here?

Get answers to these questions - and many more - at this day of workshops focusing on professional careers in the motion picture industry.

  • Working in Crafts and Technical Areas - Representatives from IATSE 891 and ACFC West Local 2020
  • Working in the World of a Performer - Representative from UBCP
  • Working in Post Production and Visual Effects - Rainmaker Digital Pictures
  • Working in Production Management (production assistance, assistant direction, locations management, unit and production management) - TBA

Topics include job descriptions, training, work experience, career paths, working conditions and pay rates. Entry level positions and labour organization requirements are addressed. Participants receive an extensive information package.

$50 for the full day (four 90-minute information sessions).
$20 per individual session
